Biography
F.J. Snell (fl. 1890 - 1925). Lived at Plympton St. Maurice of which
he painted many scenes, but also painted views of Plymouth (especially Cattewater
and Mountbatten), Plymstock, Elburton and Wembury. He founded a watercolour
society in Plymouth and at one time was the Master in Charge of Art at Blundells
School in Tiverton. An academic at Oxford, he published a book called "The Age of Chaucer". He was a freeman of the town of Tiverton.
