Mr Harry Morriss and Steve Donoghue (jockey) at the top of the picture is "Manna and the St Ledger".

Inscribed verso, 'Morriss his subsequent triumph in the Derby brought his name to the lips of thousands. Today he is out to win the triple crown and with Steve up the gallant little Manna will have more than a sporting chance of doing it.( It has appeared in the Tatler as it has the No. 1264.'

Condition: Unframed, slight discolouration from original mount, minor spotting.

Artist's Biography:
BUCHANAN Peter Ronald C. 1870-1950
Known as The Tout he worked as a sports cartoonist and caricaturist for the News of the World and Tatler in the 1930’s and exhibited 128 drawings at Walker's Gallery, London, in 1931.

Produced two full page collections of racing driver caricatures for The Motor Magazine. These were given away as colour supplements on 3rd August and 26th September 1922, his main subjects were horse racing; owners, breeders and jockeys.

Tatler - "The Tout (Peter Ronald Buchanan) ARCHER'S GHOST an original artwork for a Tout cartoon that was published in The Tatler, behind Fred Archer's ghost the jockeys are Steve Donoghue, Frank Bullock, Brownie Carslake, George Duller, Charlie Elliott, Joe Childs and George Archibald A label to the bottom right hand corner of the picture glass states that The Tout gave this artwork to the Craven Club in Newmarket in 1945. "
